Sales Preparation Lessons From Skydiving: Take the Leap

Having a desire to sell isn't enough to achieve success. Just like skydiving, sales preparation requires planning and guidance. needs to be well-thought-out. Are you ready to take a leap of faith?

As humans, we aspire for more. We try to push ourselves past our normal level of comfort by not just creating goals but by creating a plan to achieve them as well and If we want to reach these goals, we have to start with the vision of what those goals and success look like.

Take skydiving, for instance. You need the desire and intention to do it, you need to go through the necessary prep steps and you need to get guidance from someone who has done it before. Taking the steps to go skydiving and reaching a goal can be comparable to selling to a prospect - both can be uncomfortable at first, but you just have to take that leap of faith because there will always be challenges.

Hi. My name is Shad Tidler, and I'm a sales coach here at Lushin. When I'm not working, I love to pursue a variety of goals on my bucket list. If we want to reach our goals in life, we have to start with a vision of what those goals and success look like.

The vision has to be compelling so we push through the fears of doing something new or challenging that naturally happens. We have to have the right intentions in place. We need to have people in our corner to help coach us along and hold us accountable for doing what is needed to fulfill our commitments to ourselves and others. The next step is to have a plan with checkpoints along the way.

Along with this, we need to make sure we're doing the right behaviors, using the right techniques for the right situations, and having a strong mindset as we execute the plan. When we get off track from our plan, we can look back at our behaviors, techniques, and mindsets to see what's not working so we know what to improve to make our plan workable again.

We also have to be coachable and look to work with others who have been there before us so we can gain the new skills and tools that are needed. It's kinda like skydiving. You need the desire and intention to do it, go through the necessary prep steps, and get guidance from someone who's done it before. But at the end of the day, you just have to take a leap of faith.

There will always be unplanned challenges and detours. We eventually need to take a leap of faith at times along the way and just trust that all will work out okay for us. We need to be able to reflect on our progress toward the goals and have fun along each step of the journey. What good is putting in all the prep and hard work if you don't enjoy the journey to the final destination?

It's time to leap of faith and improve your sales and sales team. Are you ready to jump?
