Mother Made Me Do It
November 10th, 2009
I recently had a meeting with Sharp Business Systems here in Indianapolis. First, I have to say that it was a refreshing business meeting unlike some I have attended, but before the meeting ever started, I saw a “Guiding Principles” statement hanging on a wall. What struck me was the second point which said “We operate our business in a manner that would make our parents proud.”
That was an interesting projections that most people should be able to relate to. Even to this day at age 50 I still have that genetic wiring that says, “Make your parents proud.” I am convinced that we cannot escape such programming. And to see a company assert such a statement was impressive and relevant to all those who read. My hat goes off to Sharp Business Systems for promoting a basic human principle that we all can relate and stick to.

“I am a huge believer in the value of sales training. Lousy salespeople hurt our economy and are responsible for their clients missing oportunities due to their own incompetence. As you know, top producers outsell all others by wide margins. Becoming good in sales in my early twenties alowed me to start a business at age 29 that sold $3M last year and should $4M to $6M this year.”
